    Red face

I am a newcommer to the cini world.

I did some animation on a standard 8, about
9 years ago, and now wish to try my hand at
short film making and more animation.

Living in Ireland, I have been searching for
somewhere to buy a cammera. Recently I found
a shop who has a secondhand super 8 cammera
in stock. I hav'nt seen it yet and he is
charging me ?100 (irish pounds) for the
cammera on it's own. He also says that he
has a brand new super 8 for ?300.

Seeing as I know very little about cini cammeras and their cost, can anyone enlighten
    me???

I guess it all depends on what make/model it is and its condition. What kind of camera is it? Have you seen it? How does it sound when it runs? Remember, you will never know how well it works until you have shot a test roll. Good Luck

A super 8 camera can be worth anything from 50p to thousands of pounds. Assuming it is a recognisable make with a few of the desirable features (zoom lens etc) and in good condition ?100 is not a lot to spend when buying from a reputable shop. By definition (within Europe) it comes with a warranty and guarantee that it is fit for its purpose when bought from a shop.

And I would add that any opportunity to buy an unused new camera (which will probably be old stock) should be grasped with both hands.

On the other hand if you want to buy cheap try tin online auctions or newspaper adverts. There are some real bargains to be had if you look carefully.
